Oakdale Music
Adult Choir
The adult choir meets on Wednesdays at 7 pm, just after prayer meeting ends. We practice for one hour. The Adult Choir is the primary worship leadership group for both the 8:15 am and 10:45 am morning worship services. Adults who feel they have been given an ability to serve God through music are invited to sing with us.
Youth Choir
The Youth Choir meets each Sunday at 4 PM with a snack supper following. The group is for students in grades 7-12. The Youth Choir leads worship during the last Sunday night service of the month. The youth will be presenting music from Stand and Shout, which was the music for SonPower 2008, each time they lead a Sunday night service. The youth also presented most of the collection for one worship service in April 2009. Our youth choir plans to be part of HeartSong 2009, to be held June 23-27, 2009, at William Carey University in Hattiesburg. Our youth choir is a 3-part group and enthusiastically welcomes any new teenagers that enjoy singing!
Children's Music Ministry
Oakdale has a fully graded choir program for kids. We meet Wednesdays from 6 PM to 7 PM. Our combined children's choirs presented a musical by Kathie Hill, "Holy Moses!", on Sunday night, May 17, 2009. We have 3 age groups.
Young Musicians
Young Musicians is the choir group for kids in Grades 4-6. We meet in the choir room. We work on music released each school semester in LifeWay’s children’s music series. This group participated in the annual State Young Musicians' Festival held at Mississippi College on Saturday, April 4 where they sang with Young Musicians' groups from all over the state. Mike Hudson leads the Young Musicians and Curtis Baker plays piano.
Music Makers
Music Makers are children in Grades 1-3. They work through music released each school semester in LifeWay’s children’s music series. Music Makers sing for church on occasion and learn about music concepts and worship concepts in their weekly sessions. Mary Baker leads this group. They meet in Room #4, located in the Fellowship Hall.
Music Time Singers
Music Time Singers are children age 3 through Kindergarten. These preschoolers have a great time each week with musical experiences. Sonji Rogers and Cynthia Hudson lead this group.
Praise Team
Oakdale also has a Praise Team that leads our Sunday evening worship. Membership in this ensemble is opened only as needed, but interest in being a future singer is still welcomed.
